Müller Thurgau originated from a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale and is named after its breeder, Prof. Hermann Müller, who came from Thurgau (Switzerland) and carried out the extremely successful cross at the end of the 19th century in Geisenheim (Germany). In the Eisack Valley, this variety thrives mainly at higher altitudes on warm sloping terraces with a very fine soil structure. The climate, which becomes harsher as the altitude increases, and above all the warm days and cool nights during the ripening period, give Müller Thurgau the freshness and variety of aromas that make it so sought-after.
