VINEYARDS: 100% Lagrein VINIFICATION: traditional maceration of 10 days at controlled temperature in steel barrels. Subsequent malolactic fermentation in large 70hl and medium 22hl wooden barrels of French and Slavonian oak. This is followed by further ageing in wooden barrels.
DEGUSTATION: the Lagrein Elena Walch invites with an intense and dense garnet red colour. The multi-layered bouquet captivates with discreet spicy aromas, with cocoa as well as wild berries and heart cherries in the background. A distinctive tannin structure, supple fullness, a playful rustic elegance and youthful freshness as well as a juicy, long finish convince on the palate.
TERROIR: warmer sites on chalky soils with clay and sand on both sides of the ridge, facing southeast and southwest. Hand-picked and selected with the utmost care.
Serving suggestions: with strong dishes such as game, dark meat and piquant cheeses.
