Porphyr
Riserva
'Three selected single vineyard sites with vines that are almost a century old and thus provide very concentrated and extract-rich grape material form the basis for our
Lagrein selection. The vinification takes place entirely in barriques, which gives the Lagrein Porphyry, which owes its name to the bedrock of the vineyards, a multi-faceted
and intense nose, but at the same time makes it compact and distinctive on the palate.'
Rudi Kofler
Wine
Region of Origin: South Tyrol - Italy
DOC Area: South Tyrol
Variety: 100% porphyry
Yield: 42 hl/ha
Orientation: South - Southwest
Slope: 0 - 5

Harvest and grape selection by hand; destemming of the grapes followed by slow maceration at controlled temperature and gentle maceration in stainless steel tanks;

Technical data
Alcohol content: 14,0 % vol.
Residual sugar: 1,3 g/l
Total acidity: 5,1 g/l
Character
Colour: rich, impenetrable ruby red with violet reflections
Nose: This Lagrein selection can be described as multi-faceted and extremely intense on the nose, with hints of liquorice, coffee beans, vanilla bean, cloves and black tea,
making it both spicy and juicily fruity, with aromas reminiscent of sour cherry and blueberries.
Taste: Harmonious on the palate with very compact and concentrated, multi-layered flavours characterised not only by a juicy fruit but also a peppery spiciness as well as a
slightly sweet bitter chocolate note rounded off by finely polished tannins.
