The Pinot Noir comes from the historic Preyhof estate, located not far from Sallegg Castle above Kaltern. It is a Pinot Noir vineyard of rare excellence: slightly<br />cooler, with less intensive sunshine and ideal soil. Rich ruby red in colour, the Pinot Noir KARAL reveals notes of cherry, blueberry, and coffee. The interplay<br />continues on the palate, spiced with delicate roasted aromas. The balanced acidity and pronounced tannins reinforce the firm structure of the wine. The finish<br />is elegant, long and persistent.<br /><br />Manual harvesting and selection of the grapes from the oldest vines at the Preyhof. After destemming (10% whole bunches), filling of the stainless steel tanks<br />by gravity. Cold maceration (5 days) followed by fermentation, gentle pressing, and malolactic fermentation. Ageing in barriques and tonneaux (20% new),<br />with subsequent blending after one year of ageing. The Merlot NUSSLEITEN vines thrive in the Seehof vineyard, facing south with a view of Lake Kaltern, while the mountains at their back provide protection from the north.<br />There, purple shimmering berries of excellent quality unfold their ruby red potential. Powerful spice on the nose with pepper, wild berries, redcurrant, notes of coffee and<br />cocoa, and a hint of pine needles. Multi-faceted, full-bodied mouthfeel with alpine freshness, a strong presence and incomparable elegance. Its long and complex finish<br />exudes great finesse.<br /><br />Manual harvesting and selection of the grapes from the historic Nussleiten vineyard. After destemming, the stainless steel tanks are filled by gravity, followed by mash<br />fermentation under controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation and ageing exclusively in new barriques for 18 months.
