In the very best vintages, the three oldest and best small plots of our three most important varieties are harvested and vinified<br />under the lowest yields.<br />Grown on red, sandy loam and gravelly dolomite soils in the Brenntal site, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon come together to form an inimitable Alpine-<br />Mediterranean cuvée.<br /><br />Grape variety: 77% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc &amp; 3% Cabernet Sauvignon<br />Vinification: fermentation in wood, ageing in french barriques for 15 months. Quercegobbe<br />Merlot 100%<br />A real cru from which the merlot grapes used to produce the wine come.<br /><br />Quercegobbe is in an ideal position, on the edge of the Mediterranean maquis but close to the winery, on a well-ventilated hill overlooking the sea.<br /><br />Very concentrated ruby colour. Wide and intriguing nose, at first in the fruity notes of blueberries, raspberries, sour cherries and plums, then in the Mediterranean<br />component of myrtle, rosemary and liquorice.<br />The body is dense, rich overall, soft, with smooth tannins. As vigorous as it is balanced, it is an impactful red that does not betray expectations.<br />Production methodPrecious threads from the past weave a modern weave.<br />The production method is rigorously aimed at defending the territorial connotation.<br /><br />It ferments in truncated conical oak vats and matures for 15 months, partly in new 600-litre demi-muids and partly in second-passage barriques. Bottled from incredibly rare casks filled during some of the Distillery's darkest days, this is the oldest whisky to join our core range.<br /><br />This supreme expression proves unequivocally that age cannot tame Ardbeg's smoky power. But it can yield some of the most complex and majestic flavours ever to burst<br />forth from Ardbeg Distillery.<br /><br />Non-chill filtered.<br /><br />Hot pepper. Lemon sherbet. Cream and fudge.<br /><br />A pungent burst of smoked cream, peppermint and toffee, with Ardbeg's classic fennel and pine resin. Distant earthy bonfires mix with herbal and fruity (banana and tropical)<br />notes, along with fragrant candle wax.<br /><br /><br />An extremely vibrant, hot peppery mouthfeel leads into a burst of sherbet lemon sweetness (candied apples, pears and orange), hints of carbolic soap and tar, more creamy<br />toffee, aniseed and chilli pepper.<br /><br />A long, mellow, lingering aftertaste, with lots of cream, fudge and delicate antiseptic notes.<br />
