Fernet is a liqueur that originated in Milan in the 18th and 19th centuries. It proved effective against a cholera epidemic. It has tonic and digestive functions. Its preparation is<br />based partly on infusions in water and alcohol of herbs such as rhubarb, aromatic calamus, liquorice root, gentian, cinchona, aloe and aniseed seeds. Hot decoctions of the<br />roots are then prepared without added sugar. It is usually used as a digestive aid, but it can be used in many other ways.<br />Our 'Fernet' liqueur falls into the category of bitters and is ideal to drink at the end of a meal as a digestive. It is also perfect as an after-dinner drink or as a conversation<br />drink. It is served cold at a temperature of around 10°, straight or with ice.<br /><br />It can also be used as a long drink by adding soda. Also used as a coffee corrector.
