Monkey Shoulder smokey 40°...

Monkey Shoulder smokey 40°...

Monkey Shoulder Smokey
Monkey Shoulder Scotland

70 cl / 40 °
Typology: Blended Scotch Whisky
Raw material: Barley malt
Production method: Pot Still distillation
Aging: Continental
Casing: No

Why it's different:
Monkey Shoulder is the only whisky made from 100% malt by combining three Speyside single malts, all from a small batch production, assembling relatively small barrel
lots. It is a William Grant & Sons family whisky, born with the desire to create a modern and revolutionary whisky in the world of mixology.

Smokey Monkey Shoulder is the peaty variant of the triple blend.

How I drink it:
Versatile and designed for mixology, it is also great to drink pure to bring the public closer to the world of whisky, thanks to the smoothness of its vanilla notes.

Focus:
The name Monkey Shoulder refers to the physical condition that malt men often suffered after years of hard work turning barley mounds by hand during the germination
phase. This gave them a deformed limb holding the spade, causing it to hang downwards, like a monkey's posture.
Hendricks Orbium 43,4° 70cl

Hendricks Orbium 43,4° 70cl

Hendrick's Orbium
Hendrick's Scotland

70 cl / 43.4 °
Typology: Gin
Raw material: Neutral grain alcohol and 11 natural botanicals
Method of production: Distillation in a Carter Head still
Casing: No
Why it's different

Hendrick's Orbium is a chilled gin. It is created by infusing alcohol with quinine and absinthe, making it a complex product inspired by what is often mixed with gin: tonic and
vermouth. The final addition of lotus flowers accentuates the floral notes and gives smoothness to the blend. Produced in a small distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland, Hendrick's
Gin uses two very special ingredients: rose petals and cucumber, two flavours that come together in a perfect and surprising marriage, and two copper stills with a unique
history: a Carter Head, of which only a few examples exist, and a small Bennet Still discontinuous still from 1864. Today Hendrick's Gin is the most loved and sought after
gin in bars all over the world.

How I drink it:
Perfect for an Orbium Martini, with 1/5 of Vermouth, using lemon zest and cucumber slice as garnish.

Focus:
Hendrick's Gin recipe makes use of 11 botanicals, some classic and some downright extravagant for the category: from yarrow to coriander, juniper to cubeb berries,
elderflower, orange and lemon peel, angelica and iris root, with a final infusion of damask rose petals and cucumber. The two stills used by Hendrick's have a wonderful
history: in 1966 Charles Gordon, a descendant of the founding family of William Grant & Sons, and later chairman of the group, attended an auction where the two stills were
for sale. These were not just any old stills, as one was a wonderful copper 'Carter Head' still built in 1948 by John Dore & co Ltd in a very limited series, the other was the
still used by Marshall & Taplow of Stratford, one of London's historic gin distilleries already present at the time of the Gin Act, a very small 1860s pot still made by the
legendary Bennet Sons & Shears. Charles Gordon didn't let the opportunity pass him by, even though he still had no clear idea what to do with it. It was only years later that
the idea of using them for the production of Hendrick's gin was born, which gives an idea of the pioneering mentality of Charles Gordon, the man who invented Single Malt
Scotch Whisky. Orbium is not just a new gin. It is an interpretation of how we imagine Hendrick's in a parallel universe. It is not a Limited Release, but a permanent fixture in
the Hendrick's range, produced by the creative mind of Lesley Gracie, the Master Distiller of Hendrick's Gin.
Hendricks Lunar 43,4° 70cl

Hendricks Lunar 43,4° 70cl

Hendrick's Gin Lunar
Hendrick's Scotland

70 cl / 43.4 °
Typology: Gin
Box: No
Why it's different

Hendrick's Gin Lunar is the latest addition to the Hendrick's range. After the Orbium version, the first limited edition Summer Solstice was released and now this new limited
edition has finally been announced: Lunar Gin, which has been on sale in the UK since 20 February. This is an exceptional gin with a 43.3% vol. strength, described as
'distinctly floral with a delicate spicy finish'.

How to drink it:
Sasha Filimonov, UK brand ambassador for Hendrick's, suggests adding black pepper to enhance the gin's notes. He recommends trying the 'Moonlight Buck' cocktail with
Hendrick's Lunar Gin, ginger ale and lemon juice, garnished with cucumber and lemon zest.
Drouin Pays d'ague Reserve...

Drouin Pays d'ague Reserve...

Drouin Pays D'Auge Reserve
Drouin France

70 cl / 40 °
Typology: Calvados
Raw material: Apples
Fermentation: Indigenous yeasts
Method of production: Charentais Alembic
Box: Yes

Why it is different:
We could call Drouin Pays D'auge the grand cru of the Calvados appellation, with very strict rules. The Réserve is made like all Drouin calvados: harvesting of the 30 apple
varieties and reaching maturity, champagne-style soft pressing with yields reduced to 65% to preserve the fragrance and freshness of the juice, spontaneous fermentation
with indigenous yeasts. The ciders for distillation are the youngest ones, which remain in stainless steel vats for several months, at least 5. They are fresh and fruity
fermented, not overly complex, and ideal for the production of distillates for short ageing. Distillation takes place in the traditional copper Charentais still, ageing in French
oak barrels for 4 years.

How to drink it:
To be enjoyed neat in a tulip glass. Excellent when paired with chocolate desserts or a classic apple and pear cake.

Focus:
Fermentation is a key process in the production of all Christian Drouin spirits: it all happens naturally with the distillery's indigenous yeasts. The freshly pressed juice
reaches the stainless steel vats, where it ferments and rests for at least 5 months, but in some cases up to 1 year. Based on the fermentation time, it is already clear what
type of calvados can be obtained. Those obtained from young ciders will be ideal for the distillation of younger, fresh and fruity calvados. The more mature and evolved ciders
are distilled from June onwards, but in some cases also in the autumn following the harvest, resulting in very complex and rich distillates, ideal for long ageing, particularly
for vintage wines.
