Mllésimé 1974<br />40°vol<br /><br />THE DISTILLERY<br />Founded by Pascal Dartigalongue under the reign of Louis-Philippe in 1838, the Maison Dartigalongue is now the oldest producer of Bas Armagnacs. Based in Nogaro, in<br />the heart of Bas Armagnac, it distils only wines from this area, reputed for the refinement of its crus.<br />CHARACTERISTICS<br />Straddling Gers and Landes, the continuous still at 58% vol. and the 'Charantais' system are used, recognised by the 1972 decree as being of superior quality thanks to the<br />elimination of impurities and the consequent production of a more refined and elegant spirit. The minimum ageing period of 7-8 years takes place in new (30%) Guasconia<br />oak casks of 400 litres.<br />SOIL: sandy-loamy.<br />GRAPES: Ugni Blanc, Baco and Folle Blanche.<br />TASTING NOTES<br />On the nose, spices, white flowers and dried fruit ennoble the bouche. On the palate, the ethereal tannins provide superb length and remarkable freshness if one dwells on<br />the elapsed harvest time.<br />

I 12 Cavalieri ancient still made entirely of copper, one of the rare ones still existing,<br />composed of 12 small boilers with flowing steam in a discontinuous cycle, ideal for distilling marc from red grapes. Athanor plant with two bain-marie boilers, a classic<br />design installed in 2001 used for the distillation of grapes, fruit and wine. Crisopea plant with two vacuum bain-marie boilers, installed in 2009 after years of research. Used<br />for the distillation of pomace from white grapes, considered the most innovative plant in operation today for the production of Grappa.<br />
