Gil The Authentic Rural Gin...
Working with Giocondo was not easy, the days were intense to the end, he was a cursed Calabrese. I will never stop repeating 'cursed'... That year my back pain was
tormenting me more and more every day. My salvation, as usual, was Gil. The doctor found in Sila, by chance or luck, something unique and wonderful, a kind of mud that
he expertly heated in a container over hot coals. It was miraculous for my pain. The experience gained on one of his trips to London led him towards the creation of a
masterpiece. With the very rural technique of peating, he managed to distil an out-of-this-world 'peated' gin ... Too bad it was little.

Gil Torbato Italiano. The only peated Gin in the world. A distillate born thanks to the richness of our territory, in Calabria, in the beautiful setting of Sila, we brought peat back
to light. In fact, some historical books speak of it as a real wealth. In an ancestral way, we combine our 'low altitude' juniper with peat to create Italian Torbato Gin, always
keeping faith with the rural distillation method. A true explosion of terroir. It will surprise in blending to give that unique peaty touch. Served neat it will leave its mark.

Rurale dalla Nascita.
Gil The Authentic Rural GIN...
My friend Gil will certainly help me live a few more years. He knows more than the devil, medicine and alchemy were his life. He paid attention to facts and curiosities from
all over the world. At the Old Customs Warehouse, it was not difficult to hear surreal stories and tales. That year, a traveller told a crazy story that happened in a village not
far from us, called Rocca Imperiale; a few words were enough to intrigue him and I knew immediately that he would not waste a moment exploring that dangerous place. I
learned on his return, with a hint of envy, that he had found the antidote to the poison of the viper of Rocca Imperiale and not only that, he had discovered in that harsh and
rugged territory, the Juniper, which he called 'low altitude'. In distilling the berries combined with other botanicals, he used all his medical and alchemical knowledge to
create an authentic, rural Gin.

I will never forget his words to describe his experience: 'the rain falls sublimely on my juniper, softening the harsh parts of this territory of Rocca Imperiale, capable of giving a
unique fruit, never discovered, never explored. I am jealous of things that are not mine, the possessive instinct destroys me, my hands are full of thorns, my feet hurt, my
tiredness seems to vanish at the mere thought that those who try this Gin will feel something unique'. He had a point and his achievements speak for themselves.

Gil The Authentic Rural Gin. 'I never dreamed of making a gin without our main botanical.'
An authentic gin that was born from a true discovery, a precious distillate with a rural production method. Juniper from 'low altitude' and PGI lemons from Rocca Imperiale are
the main botanicals. It is also distinguished by its original colour. A true hymn to the territory. Original in blending, in the great classics, we like the idea of a Fizz or a
Collins. Enjoyed neat it brings out its Mediterranean character. 'Gil is not fashion.
Hendricks Orbium 43,4° 70cl
Hendrick's Orbium
Hendrick's Scotland

70 cl / 43.4 °
Typology: Gin
Raw material: Neutral grain alcohol and 11 natural botanicals
Method of production: Distillation in a Carter Head still
Casing: No
Why it's different

Hendrick's Orbium is a chilled gin. It is created by infusing alcohol with quinine and absinthe, making it a complex product inspired by what is often mixed with gin: tonic and
vermouth. The final addition of lotus flowers accentuates the floral notes and gives smoothness to the blend. Produced in a small distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland, Hendrick's
Gin uses two very special ingredients: rose petals and cucumber, two flavours that come together in a perfect and surprising marriage, and two copper stills with a unique
history: a Carter Head, of which only a few examples exist, and a small Bennet Still discontinuous still from 1864. Today Hendrick's Gin is the most loved and sought after
gin in bars all over the world.

How I drink it:
Perfect for an Orbium Martini, with 1/5 of Vermouth, using lemon zest and cucumber slice as garnish.

Focus:
Hendrick's Gin recipe makes use of 11 botanicals, some classic and some downright extravagant for the category: from yarrow to coriander, juniper to cubeb berries,
elderflower, orange and lemon peel, angelica and iris root, with a final infusion of damask rose petals and cucumber. The two stills used by Hendrick's have a wonderful
history: in 1966 Charles Gordon, a descendant of the founding family of William Grant & Sons, and later chairman of the group, attended an auction where the two stills were
for sale. These were not just any old stills, as one was a wonderful copper 'Carter Head' still built in 1948 by John Dore & co Ltd in a very limited series, the other was the
still used by Marshall & Taplow of Stratford, one of London's historic gin distilleries already present at the time of the Gin Act, a very small 1860s pot still made by the
legendary Bennet Sons & Shears. Charles Gordon didn't let the opportunity pass him by, even though he still had no clear idea what to do with it. It was only years later that
the idea of using them for the production of Hendrick's gin was born, which gives an idea of the pioneering mentality of Charles Gordon, the man who invented Single Malt
Scotch Whisky. Orbium is not just a new gin. It is an interpretation of how we imagine Hendrick's in a parallel universe. It is not a Limited Release, but a permanent fixture in
the Hendrick's range, produced by the creative mind of Lesley Gracie, the Master Distiller of Hendrick's Gin.
