Bottled from incredibly rare casks filled during some of the Distillery's darkest days, this is the oldest whisky to join our core range.<br /><br />This supreme expression proves unequivocally that age cannot tame Ardbeg's smoky power. But it can yield some of the most complex and majestic flavours ever to burst<br />forth from Ardbeg Distillery.<br /><br />Non-chill filtered.<br /><br />Hot pepper. Lemon sherbet. Cream and fudge.<br /><br />A pungent burst of smoked cream, peppermint and toffee, with Ardbeg's classic fennel and pine resin. Distant earthy bonfires mix with herbal and fruity (banana and tropical)<br />notes, along with fragrant candle wax.<br /><br /><br />An extremely vibrant, hot peppery mouthfeel leads into a burst of sherbet lemon sweetness (candied apples, pears and orange), hints of carbolic soap and tar, more creamy<br />toffee, aniseed and chilli pepper.<br /><br />A long, mellow, lingering aftertaste, with lots of cream, fudge and delicate antiseptic notes.<br />

Esame gustativo: al palato si colgono<br />sensazioni gradevolissime e morbide di erica tagliata, di miele, di frutta matura e di spezie dolci. Sensazioni finali: retrogusto lungo, delicato e sottile, con ricordi di crema<br />di latte, di vaniglia e di cereali tostati. Ideale servito liscio.<br />

Uses no colouring agents of any kind.<br />Visual examination: Brilliant golden appearance.<br />Olfactory examination: The bouquet opens fresh and clear, with distinct notes of malted barley and peat, and distant hints of wet earth. Gustative examination: On the<br />palate, very pleasant notes of saltiness are picked up, interspersed with 'burnt' sensations of ash and smoky. Final sensations: very prolonged aftertaste, dominated by<br />phenolic sensations.<br />

Pale & Dry<br />Cognac grande champagne<br />premier cru de cognac<br /><br />First introduced almost a century ago, Pale & Dry X.O is composed exclusively of eaux-de-vie sourced from the Grande Champagne region, Cognac's finest 'terroir'.<br />Elegant and extremely delicate, it has been carefully matured in ancient cellars in well-seasoned French oak casks.<br /><br />BOUQUET: long and intense. Enticingly perfumed and richly fragrant with fruity notes of apricot and citrus followed by vanilla 'rancio'.<br />TASTE: light and delicate in the mouth, with the gentleness of slow ageing.<br />FINISH: full and soft, developing into fruit.<br />

TYPOLOGY: Fortified wine<br /><br />PRODUCTION AREA: Juillac-Le-Coq<br /><br />RAW MATERIAL: Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 50%.<br /><br />DISTILLATION: Obtained from a mixture of fermented grapes and Cognac. Fermentation is stopped by adding cognac at 60° when the must reaches 10 degrees alcohol. The<br />result is a fortified must with an alcohol content of between 16° and 22°. The production process continues with the addition of one part cognac for every 4 parts must.<br />Finally, the product thus obtained is decanted into barrels that have contained the cognac.<br /><br />GRAPE VARIETIES: Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 50%.<br /><br />COLOUR: intense ruby red<br /><br />BOUQUET: aromas of red fruits emerge on the nose<br /><br />FLAVOUR: velvety and round on the palate.
