The Pinot Noir comes from the historic Preyhof estate, located not far from Sallegg Castle above Kaltern. It is a Pinot Noir vineyard of rare excellence: slightly<br />cooler, with less intensive sunshine and ideal soil. Rich ruby red in colour, the Pinot Noir KARAL reveals notes of cherry, blueberry, and coffee. The interplay<br />continues on the palate, spiced with delicate roasted aromas. The balanced acidity and pronounced tannins reinforce the firm structure of the wine. The finish<br />is elegant, long and persistent.<br /><br />Manual harvesting and selection of the grapes from the oldest vines at the Preyhof. After destemming (10% whole bunches), filling of the stainless steel tanks<br />by gravity. Cold maceration (5 days) followed by fermentation, gentle pressing, and malolactic fermentation. Ageing in barriques and tonneaux (20% new),<br />with subsequent blending after one year of ageing. Generous and enticing flavours ensue and<br />complement a beautiful balance between breadth and freshness. An enduring finish goes hand in hand with silky tannins<br />that elevate the wine's elegance.<br />THE 2023 GROWING SEASON<br />2023 was a challenging vintage in Bolgheri that, however, benefitted from Nature's benevolence during key<br />moments of the growing season. Winter was mild with relatively high temperatures and average rainfall that<br />resulted in early plant growth. Spring brought abundant rainfall that helped fill up water reserves for the summer,<br />but which also called for meticulous work in the vineyard. A hot summer saw high temperatures, albeit without<br />reaching any extremes, alongside rains that helped offset water stress in the vineyards. This enabled the grapes to<br />ripen gradually and regularly, allowing the berries to achieve high concentration.<br />Rainfall in late August and cool September nights helped aromatic complexity development and preserved the<br />acidity of the wine, resulting in a proper balance between power and elegance.<br />V INIFICATION AND AGEING<br />The different varietals were fermented separately in small steel tanks to maintain their characteristics. The alcoholic<br />fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 10 months,<br />partly in barriques used previously for Ornellaia and partly in concrete tanks, to obtain the perfect balance between<br />tannic structure and the expression of fresh fruit.<br />

LE SERRE NUOVE DELL'ORNELLAIA 2022<br />BOLGHERI DOC ROSSO<br />Crafted from the same varieties, under the same sky, with the same philosophy: Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a<br />proud second wine, which has the ability to foretell the personality of the estate's flagship wine. Together, the wines<br />provide their own distinctive points of view. The pleasure of sipping Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia evolves over<br />time, adding the charm of maturity to the vigour of youth.<br />TASTING N OTES<br />65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc Alc. : 14,5% vol.<br />Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2022 displays signature elegance and freshness, despite the vintage's solar character.<br />A deep red-purple hue and ripe black fruit, spices and lightly toasted wood aromas shine through in the wine. A<br />generous and juicy prologue is ensued by rich, firm tannins, while the finish is aromatic, plush and persistent.<br />The wine already offers a delightful drinking experience and will reach perfect maturity within ten years.<br />THE 2022 G ROWING SEASON<br />The 2022 vintage in Bolgheri was distinguished by a typical winter with temperatures nearing the seasonal average,<br />followed by a start of spring that was equally cool and dry. These conditions caused the vines to bud later than<br />usual. From May onwards, a lengthy dry spell - lasting for about 75 days - persisted in the area, seriously<br />challenging plant growth. The vines suffered from notable water stress during the growth, flowering and veraison<br />periods, which resulted in a low-yield vintage. Fortunately, after these complications, the rainfall caused by summer<br />storms freed up the energies, reactivating the physiology of the vines that could resume the ripening of the grapes.<br />The rainfall cleared up during a month of September that proved perfect for the accumulation of sugar, aromas<br />and tannins, mostly due to the cool night-time temperatures. The harvest took place in superb conditions that<br />enabled us to choose the perfect date for each vineyard and varietal.<br />The red grape harvest started with Merlot on 25 August before continuing through September with Cabernet<br />Sauvignon and ending on 10 October.<br />VINIFICATION AND AGEING<br />The grapes were handpicked into 15 kg baskets. The bunches were selected by hand on a double sorting table before<br />and after de-stemming, then finally soft-pressed. In addition to handpicking, we introduced optical selection in<br />2016 in order to further increase the quality of berry selection. Each variety and each parcel of land was vinified<br />separately. The alcoholic fermentation took place partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in concrete vats at<br />temperatures between 22-28°C for two weeks, followed by maceration for a total of about 10-15 days.<br />The malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel after which the wines were racked into barriques (25% new<br />and 75% used once). The wine remained in barriques in Ornellaia's cellars for about 15 months. After the first 12<br />months the wine was blended and then returned to the barriques for an additional three months of ageing. The<br />wine then remained in the bottle for another six months prior to release.<br />

Nipozzano Vecchie Viti 2021<br />Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG<br /><br />This wine, chosen by the Frescobaldi family to continue the tradition of reserving a Private Collection for its new-born family members, originates from the oldest vines at<br />Castello Nipozzano, which have a deep root system. Of great complexity and harmony,it is aged for 24 months in oak barrels according to the ancient Tuscan tradition.<br /><br />Climatic trend<br />The year 2020 ended with an autumn in which the rainfall of the period was sufficient to replenish the groundwater tables. Winter 2021 was instead characterised by<br />moderate rainfall and mild temperatures. Spring was cool and dry initially, followed by a month of abundant rainfall in May that replenished the water reserves of the<br />countryside. A lack of rainfall in summer helped to balance the water stress of the vines and brought great richness of colour and aroma to the grapes. Beneficial rains,<br />followed by abundant hill breezes, allowed the grapes to conclude their ripening cycle in extraordinary elegance and perfect health. The 2021 vintage was a rich one in<br />which the spirit of the terroir emerged with great energy and vigour, allowing the production of wines that fully reflect the unique character of Nipozzano.<br /><br />Technical notes<br />Wine Variety: Sangiovese and traditional complementary varieties<br />Alcohol content: 13.5%<br />Maturation: 24 months in barrels<br /><br />Vinification and ageing<br />The Sangiovese grapes and traditional complementary varieties were transferred to the cellar immediately after harvesting. Here, once destemmed, the spontaneous<br />fermentation process took place in concrete tanks, after which the wine remained in the vats to complete maceration. Its journey continued in wooden barrels, where the<br />wine remained to mature for the time necessary.The subsequent period in the bottle allowed a greater balance of all the components, making it possible to fully appreciate<br />its essence once the bottle was opened.<br /><br />Tasting notes<br />Nipozzano Vecchie Viti 2021 has an intense and vibrant ruby-red colour. The bouquet is complex and elegant, with clear fruity and floral notes characteristic of the grape<br />varieties. The red and black fruit is accompanied by typical notes of sweet violet and rose. Its elegance is underlined by fresh balsamic notes and a delicate spiciness. In<br />the mouth, the acidic- alcoholic component is well-balanced, and the mature tannin caresses the palate, resulting in a lovely texture. An extremely elegant wine on the<br />whole, with a long and persistent finish.<br />
