<br />Gries<br />South Tyrol Lagrein Riserva DOC<br /><br />Description: a wine of almost violet colour and dense aromas of violets, blackberries and sour cherry, paired with light roasted aromas like coffee and chocolate. A powerful<br />and supple wine with still youthful tannins.<br /><br />Ageing potential: 8 - 10 years.<br /><br />Recommended food: its powerful body makes this wine a pleasant companion to dark meat, game, poultry and piquant hard cheeses.<br /><br />Serving temperature: 16° C.<br /><br />Grape variety: Lagrein; 15-year old trellis system<br /><br />Sites: the vines are planted in the classic growing area in Gries near Bolzano on deep, warm and sandy alluvial soils, granite and porphyry as the original rock; very<br />favourable microclimate in the Bolzano valley basin, very warm days, cooler nights.<br /><br />Yield: 49 hl/ha<br /><br />Vinification: Fermentation on the skins for 15 days, followed by gentle maceration.<br />Racking of the young wine into large wooden barrels for biological acid reduction. Subsequent ageing in small wooden barrels for 16 months; gentle coarse filtration before<br />bottling. Already on April 10, on the sunny sites<br />around the monastery, we saw the first shoots. Thanks to mild spring weather, there were<br />no problems with frost. During the summer the conditions were good as well, with normal<br />temperatures and average rainfall. There were no extreme weather event and so harvest<br />started about 10 days early on September 14th. Unfortunately, the autumn was a little bit<br />rainy and therefore the diurnal temperature shift was less extreme than usual. In order to<br />get healthy grapes, the harvest dates were brought forward and so harvest was already<br />completed by mid-October.<br />The wines of the 2020 vintage are delicate, fresh and fruity with moderate alcohol and an<br />appealing acidity. Similar to the 2019 vintage.<br />

The deep, chalky alluvial soil and the heat-retaining<br />environment provide the red wine with what it needs for its intensive, unique characteristics. In addition, the field resembles an amphitheatre of nature, giving Huberfeld the<br />scenery it deserves!<br />WINE DESCRIPTION:Aromas of plum and blackcurrant, fine liquorice, slightly spicy. First born among the wines that make up the MOMA line dedicated to the world of art, the label bears the work Golden Glass by Milanese artist Beatrice Pani, first prize-<br />winner at the third edition of the Umberto Cesari Art Contest.<br /><br />Blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown on medium-textured clay soils. The vineyards have an average age of 15 years and a yield of 80 quintals of<br />grapes per hectare. Fermented in vertical steel vats at controlled temperature for 12-14 days. Matured for 6 months in 30 HL Slavonian oak casks and a further 3 months in<br />bottle.<br /><br />Colour: light red with violet reflections.<br />Bouquet: intense plum, violet and red fruits.<br />Taste: pleasantly velvety on the palate, with the fruity hints typical of Sangiovese, the softness of Merlot and the 'balsamicity' of Cabernet Sauvignon. For the maturation in the barrique barrels, one third new<br />wooden barrels are used.
