It is accompanied by a hint of ripe fruit. The winter of 2017 ended a five-year drought with January recording the most rainfall in over 20 years. The abundant rainfall continued into March, causing a modest<br />delay in budbreak, and pushing bloom back by two weeks. Increased soil moisture allowed for healthy vine growth and development. The summer, in turn, was warm and<br />punctuated by occasional heat waves. Despite Mother Nature's variability, favorable weather in August provided optimal conditions for fruit development and maturation.<br />Superb flavors and excellent ripening led to an earlier than expected harvest, which commenced on the 5th of September.<br /><br />The Opus One 2017 offers a harmonious aromatic balance of rich dark fruit, stems of roses, and earthy forest floor. The juicy entry offers a round, silky mouthfeel with just<br />enough acidity to complement the satin texture. This seductive wine shows flavors of black cassis, black cherry and a hint of cocoa powder. The fine-grained, plush tannins<br />evolve into a long, supple finish. A supremely age-worthy wine, it will delight now and for many years to come.<br /><br />Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon 80%, Petit Verdot 9%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Merlot 5% and Malbec 1%<br /><br />Skin Contact: 20 days<br /><br />Barrel Aging: 17 months in new French oak<br />

The beguiling Gewürztraminer is one of the most exciting growths in the wine<br />world. Characteristic of Gewürztraminer Sanct Valentin is its intense and complex bouquet with aromas reminiscent of oriental spices, delicate rose scents and exotic fruits.<br />The Gewürztraminer was first vinified in 1986 as the top growth of the Sanct Valentin line. It is characterised by longevity and promises wonderful drinking pleasure even<br />after many years.<br /><br />Grape variety: Gewürztraminer<br />Vine age: 5 to 35 years<br />Growing region:<br />Site: Selected sites in Eppan and Kaltern (300-500m).<br />Exposure: Southeast<br />Soils: loamy limestone gravel soils<br />Method of cultivation: Guyot<br />Harvest: Mid-September; harvest and grape selection by hand.<br />Vinification: Maceration of the grapes followed by gentle pressing. Chardonnay<br />Sanct Valentin 2021<br />This popular grape variety is at home all over the world. In the best individual vineyards of the municipality of Eppan, however, the grapes develop so excellently that they<br />produce a high-quality, powerful yet elegant top wine. Since 1986, the Chardonnay has been part of the Sanct Valentin line and is one of the most important wines of the<br />house. Excellent balance, well-integrated acidity and excellent storage potential.<br /><br />Grape variety: Chardonnay<br />Vine age: 10 to 32 years<br />Growing region:<br />Site: selection of the best single vineyard sites in the municipality of Eppan (450-550m).<br />Exposure: south-east, south-west<br />Soils: sandy calcareous gravel soils (or calcareous gravel soils)<br />Method of cultivation: Guyot<br />Harvest: Late September to early October, hand harvest and grape selection.<br />Vinification: Fermentation, malolactic fermentation and ageing on the lees in barrique tonneaux. Assemblage after almost a year and further maturation for at least eight<br />months in concrete barrels.<br />Yield: 45 hl/ha<br />Analytical data:<br />Alcohol content: 14 %<br />Acidity: 5,55 gr/lt<br />Drinking temperature: 10-12°.<br /><br />Recommended consumption:<br />Likes to accompany strong dishes such as 'fritto misto' (fried seafood), porcini ravioli with cream sauce or risotto with grey cheese and chilli. Passito Comtess<br />Sanct Valentin<br />Passito is the Italian term for wines that are made from air- and sun-dried, almost rosined grapes. This usually takes place in our vineyard, i.e. the grapes remain on the<br />vine until the end of the year. The elegant Passito Comtess delights with intense fruit, a creamy-soft body, with a long finish and flatters the palate with racy-fresh acidity.<br />The youthful, fresh aromas become increasingly complex with proper bottle ageing and gradually fade into subtle honey notes.<br /><br />Grape variety: Gewürztraminer<br />Vine age: 20 years<br />Growing region:<br />Site: vineyard at the foot of Valentin Castle (600m) and in Pinzon/.<br />Montan (330m)<br />Exposure: Southeast / Southwest<br />Soils: Calcareous gravel soils<br />Method of cultivation: Guyot<br />Harvest: Mid-December; harvest and grape selection by hand.<br />Vinification: The dried grapes are pressed and fermented and matured partly in steel tanks and partly in small wood.<br />Yield: 20 hl/ha<br />Analytical data:<br />Alcohol content: 11,5%.<br />Residual sugar: 197 gr/lt<br />Acidity: 6,25 gr/lt<br />Drinking temperature: 8-10° C<br /><br />Recommended consumption:<br />This fruity dessert wine goes perfectly with blue cheese,<br />but also with fruity desserts like apple strudel, apple pie with vanilla<br />vanilla ice cream or 'Peach Melba'.<br />Cellaring/Potential:<br />10 years and more<br />
