LIGHT 2020

The winter was predominantly dry and mild, leading to an early but uniform budding of the vines from the second week of March for the Sangiovese and from the third week
for the Merlot. Spring was sunny, accompanied by some rainfall in May and June, which favoured an excellent flowering, which took place slightly early in the last week of
May. The summer was hot and dry with good temperature ranges between day and night. In the last week of August, two very precious rains brought relief to the plants and
lowered the temperatures, allowing the vines to complete the ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on three September in ideal conditions, with sunny days without heat
peaks. These conditions resulted in grapes of excellent quality, with excellent phenolic ripeness and great aromatic balance. Brilliant ruby red in colour. The nose is rich in
black fruits such as blueberries and blackberries, accompanied by a light balsamic and pan brioché note. The palate is soft supported by a nice freshness, with enveloping
tannins and a long fruity aftertaste.

ANALYTICAL DATA
ALCOHOL
14.00% Vol.
TOTAL ACIDITY
5.94 g/l
PH
3,53
SUGAR AT HARVEST
Merlot: 250 g/l; Sangiovese 248 g/l
TOTAL ACIDITY AT HARVEST
Merlot: 6.70 g/l; Sangiovese 7.10 g/l
PH AT HARVEST
Merlot: 3.46; Sangiovese 3.30
Luce 750ml Tenuta Luce 2020

LUCE 2020

The months of January and February were particularly mild and dry. This condition led to an early budding of the vines from the second week of March for the Sangiovese
and from the third week for the Merlot. Spring then saw warm weather with rainfall mainly in May, favouring an excellent flowering that took place slightly early around the
last week of the month, followed by a rapid fruit set. The first three weeks of June were marked by rainfall, which helped prepare the plants for the summer season, which
was hot and with little rain. In the last week of August, two very important rains brought relief to the plants and lowered the temperatures, creating the ideal conditions for the
grapes to ripen. Harvesting began on 3 September with the Merlot. The grapes were in excellent health and ripeness, with great aromatic potential, due in part to the
temperature swings between night and day that occurred in the days leading up to the harvest. While the Sangiovese harvest began on 16 September and continued until
the end of the month.

TASTING NOTES Intense ruby red in colour, Luce 2020 stands out on the nose for its complexity and elegance, characterised by ripe black fruit, particularly blackberry and
mulberry, to which hints of cocoa and sweet spices are added. On the palate, it is harmonious, lively, with excellent structure, balanced by vibrant acidity and soft, silky
tannins that lend an elegant finish with great persistence.

ANALYTICAL DATA
ALCOHOL
Vol. 14.50%
TOTAL ACIDITY
6.07 gr/L
pH
3.45

SUGAR AT HARVEST
Merlot: 255 g/L, Sangiovese: 243 g/L
TOTAL ACIDITY AT HARVEST
Merlot: 6.20 g/l, Sangiovese: 7.10 g/l
PH AT HARVEST
Merlot: 3.45, Sangiovese: 3.35
Brunello di Montalcino 2018...

Brunello di Montalcino 2018...

CastelGiocondo 2018
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
'CastelGiocondo is a unique place in Montalcino, where the great variety of exposures and soils - marl, clays and Pliocene sands - give this Brunello infinite nuances. A
multifacetedness of notes that evolve over time and make one continually want to discover, savour and remember.'

Climatic trend
The 2018 season was characterised by a cool and rainy winter, with budding within the norm. The spring, which was rainy during the flowering period, slowed down fruit set,
naturally lowering the plants' production load. The summer was dry, with little rain, but thanks to the water reserve created in the spring, there were no problems. This
situation allowed the grapes to ripen regularly and ripen well, with cool nights ideal for the development of aromas and colour. The tramontana wind in mid-September led to
a drop in temperatures. The cool, breezy but sunny season was particularly favourable for Sangiovese, which was able to complete its ripening, accumulating great aromatic
and polyphenolic potential. The grapes arrived at harvest time healthy, intact and with the right concentration.

Vinification and ripening
Such regular weather conditions made it possible to harvest the grapes by hand without any particular difficulty, and once they arrived at the winery, they were subjected to
scrupulous selection on sorting benches. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with frequent pumping over especially during the early
stages. The wine then underwent maturation in wood in large casks, where it was allowed to mature and 'elevate' until it reached its defining balance and harmony.
CastelGiocondo Brunello is ready for release 5 years after the harvest and only after further bottle ageing.

Tasting notes
CastelGiocondo 2018 has an intense and brilliant ruby red colour. Castelgiocondo always stands out for its elegance, a characteristic that is, if possible, even more marked
in this vintage. The fruity notes, the first to strike our olfactory receptors, are dominated by blueberry and blackberry, flanked by blackcurrant and other berries. This is
followed by floral memories of violets and dog roses, always present in the bouquet of the best Brunellos of Montalcino. Clear spicy hints of black pepper and cardamom
make their way into the olfactory sequence, followed by a pleasant liquorice aroma. On the palate, the tannic texture is dense, but without any particular roughness, finely
flanked by mineral notes. The taste-olfactory coherence and the long, persistent finish make it particularly well-balanced.
Le Volte 2021 IGT Toscana...

Immediately pleasant, versatile and carefree, Le Volte dell'Ornellaia tells a story of conviviality. Through this brilliant red, one begins to enter the world of Ornellaia and to
share with simplicity that passion for quality that one breathes here every day and that can be found in every sip.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Alc. 14% vol.

'With its usual ruby red colour with purple highlights, Le Volte dell'Ornellaia is characterised on the nose by lively notes of red fruits accompanied by a delicate spiciness.
On tasting, the wine is well-balanced in all its components, combining a smooth and supple tannic texture with an acidic freshness that lends crispness and pleasantness
to the wine.' - Olga Fusari - Winemaker - December 2022

THE CLIMATE OF 2021
The 2021 vintage began with a rainy and mild winter that allowed the soil's water reserves to be replenished. After a dry March, budding took place in the first two weeks of
April. The gradual rise in temperatures, with normal rainfall, allowed the shoots to grow steadily, leading to flowering in excellent conditions at the end of May. From June
onwards, fully summery weather set in, with slightly higher than average temperatures and almost no rainfall, leading to veraison in the last week of July. The drought lasted
throughout August and September, but the spring rains and deep Bolgheri soils allowed the vines to avoid too much water stress, creating the conditions for small, highly
concentrated grapes with high quality potential. September was warm and sunny with no rain, allowing an 'à la carte' harvest to express the full quality potential of each
individual vineyard. The harvesting of the reds took place substantially during the month of September, with the Merlot in the first two weeks and the other vines on the estate
from 13 September, concluding on 1 October.

VINIFICATION AND FINING
Vinification was carried out separately in small steel tanks, respecting the different varietal characteristics during the fermentation phases. Alcoholic fermentation was
followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel tanks. The ageing phase lasted 10 months, part in barriques, previously used for Ornellaia, the other part in cement tanks,
to achieve a perfect balance between tannic structure and fruit expression. - Axel Heinz - Estate Manager
On the palate the wine is soft and velvety, with a pleasant, enveloping mouthfeel that invites
a second sip. The tannic texture is dense and at the same time elegant and the finish is savoury and beautifully persistent.' - Olga Fusari - Winemaker - July 2022

THE CLIMATE OF 2020
After a mild and rainy winter, March saw a temporary drop in temperatures with a few nights below 0°C right at the start of budding in the last week of the month. The newly
budded shoots were, however, still protected by the cotton bud tissue, which prevented frost damage. The rest of spring saw generally warm weather with normal rainfall,
ensuring regular vegetative development until flowering, which took place between 20 and 25 May. In June, a passage of heavy rainfall towards the middle of the month was
followed by a very long dry period with a substantial absence of rain and torrid temperatures until the end of August. The veraison took place evenly and quickly between 20
and 25 July, starting the ripening of the grapes under a blazing sun. Rains arrived at the end of August, which led to a considerable drop in temperatures, with night-time
lows as low as 13°C, ideal conditions for completing the ripening of the Merlots. They were harvested early and quickly, in just two weeks, in order to preserve as much
freshness and fruitiness as possible, just in time to avoid a sudden week-long heat wave where the thermometer marked up to 37°C, causing sugar levels to soar for all the
varieties still to be harvested, leading us to begin harvesting Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the young vineyards as early as 17 September. Towards the end
of September, a passage of rain finally brought the weather conditions back to normal, the water absorbed by the grapes lowered the alcohol levels back to normal values,
allowing us to conclude the harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot on 3 October.

VINIFICATION AND FINING
Harvesting was carried out by hand in 15 kg crates and the grapes were sorted on a double sorting table before and after destemming and then subjected to a soft crushing.
In 2016, optical sorting was introduced in addition to manual selection to further increase the quality of the selection. Each variety and each plot was vinified separately.
Alcoholic fermentation took place partly in stainless steel vats and partly in concrete vats at temperatures between 26 and 30°C for a week, followed by a maceration period
of around 15 days, with a total stay in the vats of around three weeks. Malolactic fermentation took place mainly in oak barrels (70% new and 30% second passage). The
wine remained in barriques in the
Ornellaia cellar at a controlled temperature for a period of about 18 months. After the first 12 months, it was blended, then reintroduced into the barriques, where it spent a
further 6 months. The wine remained in the bottle for 12 months before release. - Axel Heinz - Estate Manager
Lagrein Ris. Elena Walch...

Lagrein Ris. Elena Walch...

Lagrein Riserva Vigna 'Castel Ringberg' 2019
South Tyrol DOC

The Renaissance castle of the Vigna 'Castel Ringberg', built by the Habsburg dynasty in 1620, towers above Lake Kaltern and is surrounded by the vineyards of the single
vineyard site. A 'Vigna' is an additional designation of origin; the term stands for a precisely delineated and mapped vineyard. The vineyards of the Vigna 'Castel Ringberg',
which alternate between moderate and steep slopes, are located at a unique intersection of three different soils: in the west, the dolomite rock of the Mendel ridge
accompanies the vineyards, while the steep slopes consist of 30,000-year-old gravel from the ice-age river Adige. In the southern and central parts, the larger areas consist
of loose limestone rubble, which aerates the vine roots well. In addition, the mildness of Lake Kaltern, coupled with strong afternoon southerly winds, allows for gentle,
natural cultivation with deliberately small-scale production. The microclimate and geological conditions at an ideal altitude of 330 to 400 metres above sea level offer optimal
conditions for wines of incomparable character. 'Castel Ringberg' Lagrein Riserva Vigna invites with a strong garnet red and with a fruity-fresh, multi-layered bouquet:
Aromas of red berries with cranberries, currants and cherries combine with delicate tobacco notes and a little chocolate. Velvety soft tannins, a fresh, spicy richness and
structure, youthful elegance and plenty of charm as well as a stimulating, mineral-tinged length convince on the palate.'

2019 vintage: The 2019 wine year presents itself as a classic South Tyrolean vintage with solid good quality, albeit a smaller harvest. This year's differences in harvest date
and quantity between vineyards at different altitudes were significant. After an initially warm spring, followed by a cooler April-May with a delayed rise in high temperatures in
the summer, the harvest could be scheduled to begin in the second week of September. These classic for South Tyrol - now historic - harvest dates around two weeks later
than in 2018 allow the grapes to benefit from the vaunted 'golden South Tyrolean autumn' with warm days and already cool nights. Especially the vineyards at higher
altitudes, where the maturity is reached later, were able to benefit from the very best weather conditions in late autumn.

VINIFICATION: Fermentation on the skins for about 10 days followed by acid reduction. Maturation for 20 months in French barriques. Subsequent filling and long ageing in
bottle. Since 2015, a state-of-the-art fermentation cellar has allowed the grapes to be processed with the utmost care, with whole-grape processing and also the processing
of whole grapes using gravity. The sensitive destemmer and the gentle transport of the grapes by means of a 'cuvon', a container on rails, prove to be extremely gentle on
the grapes and preserve their high quality. The state of the art building is certainly unique in South Tyrol in this conception and is probably one of the most modern
fermenting cellars in Italy, for the production of great red wines d'excellence.

Designation: South Tyrol DOC
Grape variety: 100% Lagrein
Alcohol: 13,50% Vol
Residual sugar: 4,9 g/L
Total acidity: 5,1 g/L
Harvest: Harvested and selected by hand with the utmost care
Cabernet 'Istrice' Elena...

Cabernet 'Istrice' Elena...

Cabernet 'Istrice' 2020
South Tyrol DOC

Cabernet 'Istrice' was Elena Walch's first red wine. At that time consisting of a predominant proportion of Cabernet Franc and only a little Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine
showed 'its spines', just like the little hedgehogs in the park of the family winery. Today, the percentage of 'Istrice' has exactly reversed with 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and
about 10% Cabernet Franc. Although it shows less of its spines, it has gained in elegance and finesse and continues to be one of the favourites at Walch.

'The Cabernet 'Istrice' captivates with a strong intense ruby red and with stimulating fruity aromas in the nose, with red forest berries and heart cherries as well as seductive
spice with white pepper and chocolate. On the palate, the wine surprises with refreshing richness and structure, with elegant, precise tannins and fruity-spicy density, as
well as a long, juicy finish.'

LESE 2020
Spring 2020, with its beautiful weather and warm temperatures, spring flowers in the garden and thick blanket of fresh snow on the mountains, led to the relatively early
development of the vines, which settled down again with the cooler temperatures in June. After a warm midsummer, the harvest started in the first days of September. The
autumn was characterised by warm days and cool nights, but also by some freak weather, whereby the careful cultivation of the vineyards in early summer was noticeable.
The 2020 vintage resulted in wines of great South Tyrolean typicity: The young white wines stand out with fresh liveliness and clear aromatic expression, the red wines show
very good structure and straight, fine fruit.

VINIFICATION
Traditional maceration of about 10 days in steel tanks. Followed by malolactic fermentation in wooden barrels. Subsequent malolactic fermentation and ageing in medium French oak barrels
(22hl) and partly in steel tanks.

DEGUSTATION: The Pinot Noir Elena Walch presents itself with a clear, fresh ruby red. A fruity play of aromas with red berries, cherries and raspberries as well as spicy
notes with some white pepper characterise the nose. On the palate, the wine convinces with a juicy structure and inviting freshness, with soft, velvety tannins, discreet spice
in the background as well as a youthfully elegant finish.

TERROIR: An interesting combination of vineyards in fresher sites between 400m a.s.l. up to 600m a.s.l.. Thanks to the warm, stable summer, grapes of the very best health and with balanced values have reached our cellar.
The 2022 wine year started with a warm spring, which led to an early start of flowering. The following summer was consistently dry and warm, and hot in mid-summer. The
drought did not lead to any problems, not least thanks to our irrigation systems and meteostations in the vineyard. The warm summer months resulted in very healthy
grapes of very good quality and ripeness. The acidity levels were somewhat lower due to the vintage, but well balanced and were supported by targeted foliage work in the
summer, as well as a somewhat earlier harvest. The first grapes were harvested at the end of August - as always completely by hand. Overall, the wines are complex, with
great structure and very good fruit.

Serving Suggestions: With hearty dishes such as game, dark meat and piquant cheeses.

Denomination: South Tyrol DOC
Alcohol: 13,00 % Vol.
Total acidity: 5.2 g/L
Residual sugar: 1.4 g/L
