Grape variety: Petit Verdot ,Syrah, Lagrein, Merlot,Cabernet Sauvignon - in equal proportions.<br />Vinification: The different grape varieties are harvested at the same time and processed together. Only the Cabernet Sauvignon, which matures later, is fermented<br />separately. The maceration in steel tanks lasts about 10 days, followed by the acid reduction in wooden barrels. LAGREIN<br />RISERVA<br />South Tyrol - Alto Adige DOC<br />TABER<br />Lagrein, one of the most typical red wine varieties of South Tyrol and of the Cantina Bolzano, thrives in the valley floor around Bolzano at high temperatures differentiated<br />between day and night. It offers a very intense bouquet, ranging from fruity notes of apricot and candied orange peel to hints of<br />Mediterranean maquis. The fruity notes, hints of aromatic herbs and sweet honey nuances return on the palate. SOUTH TIROL DOC<br />LAGREIN RISERVA<br />VINEYARD KLOSTERANGER<br /><br />Our historic single vineyard: expressive, concentrated and straightforward.<br />IN THE VINEYARD<br />This Lagrein thrives at an altitude of 280 m in the middle of Gries. The historic vineyard is part of the monastery complex, where the vines stand on pure alluvial material from<br />the Talfer and a subsoil of Bolzano quartz porphyry. IN THE CELLAR<br />After fermentation and acid reduction in stainless steel, the wine is aged in new barrique barrels for 22 months, followed by harmonisation in enamelled steel tanks and<br />careful bottling after light filtration.<br />TASTING NOTES<br />The Klosteranger appears in deep garnet red and seduces with a bouquet of concentrated aromas. It is surprisingly lively and fruity on the nose with notes of coffee and<br />black berries as well as a hint of raspberries. On the palate, it convinces with grippy tannins, fresh acidity, delicate as well as elegant fullness and depth. Our single-vineyard<br />Lagrein is wonderfully complex, long-lasting and pampers the palate with a multi-layered structure. Description: Deep and concentrated fruit, aromas of blackcurrant, cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla as well as velvety tannins make up this full-bodied yet elegant cuvée.<br />Ageing potential: 10 - 15 years.<br />Recommended food: Meat dishes of all kinds, especially red meat and game dishes as well as mature cheese.<br />Serving temperature: 16° C.<br />Grape variety: 80% Merlot - 20% Cabernet. Older trellised vines (15 - 20 years), planting density 5,000 vines/ha.<br />Sites: vineyards at 250-430 m a.s.l., moraine rubble deposits and porphyry weathered soils, south-west facing.<br />Vinification: Must fermentation followed by maceration for 7-10 days, malolactic fermentation in barriques. A powerful<br />and supple wine with still youthful tannins.<br /><br />Ageing potential: 8 - 10 years.<br /><br />Recommended food: its powerful body makes this wine a pleasant companion to dark meat, game, poultry and piquant hard cheeses.<br /><br />Serving temperature: 16° C.<br /><br />Grape variety: Lagrein; 15-year old trellis system<br /><br />Sites: the vines are planted in the classic growing area in Gries near Bolzano on deep, warm and sandy alluvial soils, granite and porphyry as the original rock; very<br />favourable microclimate in the Bolzano valley basin, very warm days, cooler nights.<br /><br />Yield: 49 hl/ha<br /><br />Vinification: Fermentation on the skins for 15 days, followed by gentle maceration.<br />Racking of the young wine into large wooden barrels for biological acid reduction.
