Pinot Nero 2022<br />South Tyrol DOC<br /><br />VINEYARDS: 100% Pinot Noir<br /><br />VINIFICATION: Traditional maceration for 10 days at controlled temperature in steel barrels. Subsequent malolactic fermentation and ageing in medium French oak barrels<br />(22hl) and partly in steel tanks.<br /><br />DEGUSTATION: The Pinot Noir Elena Walch presents itself with a clear, fresh ruby red. A fruity play of aromas with red berries, cherries and raspberries as well as spicy<br />notes with some white pepper characterise the nose. On the palate, the wine convinces with a juicy structure and inviting freshness, with soft, velvety tannins, discreet spice<br />in the background as well as a youthfully elegant finish.<br /><br />TERROIR: An interesting combination of vineyards in fresher sites between 400m a.s.l. up to 600m a.s.l.. Limestone and porphyry soils in south-eastern and south-western<br />exposure. Harvested and selected by hand with the utmost care.<br /><br />LESE 2022: An excellent vintage 2022 awaits you! Thanks to the warm, stable summer, grapes of the very best health and with balanced values have reached our cellar.<br />The 2022 wine year started with a warm spring, which led to an early start of flowering. The following summer was consistently dry and warm, and hot in mid-summer. The<br />drought did not lead to any problems, not least thanks to our irrigation systems and meteostations in the vineyard. The warm summer months resulted in very healthy<br />grapes of very good quality and ripeness. The acidity levels were somewhat lower due to the vintage, but well balanced and were supported by targeted foliage work in the<br />summer, as well as a somewhat earlier harvest. The first grapes were harvested at the end of August - as always completely by hand. Lagrein, genetically related to Syrah, is the oldest autochthonous grape variety in South Tyrol. In the hot, deep vineyards in the south of South Tyrol, the heat-loving Lagrein<br />finds its suitable habitat.<br />The FRAUENHÜGEL has a seductive fruitiness of wild berries, elderberries, black cherries and cocoa beans. The wine is enriched with balsamic tannins during ageing in<br />barrique barrels. The noble roasted aromas and the vital acidity are harmoniously combined with the powerful fruit body. STEINRAFFLER<br />VIGNA LAGREIN<br /><br />A wanderer between worlds. On the one hand dense and concentrated and almost rustic in a pleasant way, it nevertheless reveals a certain elegance. The colour is deep<br />dark and garnet red with an almost black core. The bouquet reveals a mixture of earthy-mineral and spicy notes. The initially delicate fruit develops increasingly in the glass<br />and is reminiscent of dark, ripe plums. On the palate, the spice components continue, with the finish gaining in complexity due to the mineral notes that emerge once again.<br /><br />This grape variety, unique to South Tyrol, finds very good growing conditions in the vineyards of our Steinraffler winery. Here, in 1990, we planted the short-stemmed Lagrein,<br />a variety that had almost fallen into oblivion in South Tyrol, grafted it onto weak-growing rootstocks and grew it on wire frames. The rebirth of this old, autochthonous red wine<br />variety represents for us a happy combination of tradition and innovation.<br /><br />In South Tyrol, only the 'Vigna' classification guarantees the origin of a site wine.<br /><br />Grape variety: Lagrein<br />Soil: Loam and sandy soils<br />Vinification: After delivery, the destemmed grapes enter the fermentation tank. MECZAN PINOT NOIR<br /><br />The Meczan is a very varietal Pinot Noir, which is characterised above all by its softness, its distinctive fragrance and its clear fruity character.<br />It has a vivid ruby red colour with slight garnet reflections. TYPE OF WINE: Red wine AOC Corbières<br />PRODUCTION AREA: The estate is nestled in the rugged hills just behind the Mediterranean coast of Narbonne, in the south of France.<br />GRAPE VARIETIES: Syrah 36%, Grenache noir 35%, Mourvèdre 12%, Carignan 9%, Alicante-henri-bouschet 8%.<br />VINIFICATION: made according to the traditional method. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete tanks. During<br />fermentation, the wine is regularly pumped to allow gentle extraction of the tannins. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is left untouched for a couple of days. The total<br />maceration time is 15-2 days.<br />COLOUR: ruby red<br />BOUQUET: Pure, sunny bouquet with notes of flint and graphite. These aromas are mixed with scents of thyme, black truffle, a little liquorice and eucalyptus.<br />FLAVOUR: The palate has the same mineral character, but on a slightly different register (mentholated verbena, sage, laurel). Secondary notes (from fermentation) of<br />blackcurrant and blueberry jam and a hint of fruit brandy, a sign of the beginning of a very harmonious evolution.
