STEINRAFFLER<br />VIGNA LAGREIN<br /><br />A wanderer between worlds. On the one hand dense and concentrated and almost rustic in a pleasant way, it nevertheless reveals a certain elegance. The colour is deep<br />dark and garnet red with an almost black core. The bouquet reveals a mixture of earthy-mineral and spicy notes. The initially delicate fruit develops increasingly in the glass<br />and is reminiscent of dark, ripe plums. On the palate, the spice components continue, with the finish gaining in complexity due to the mineral notes that emerge once again.<br /><br />This grape variety, unique to South Tyrol, finds very good growing conditions in the vineyards of our Steinraffler winery. Here, in 1990, we planted the short-stemmed Lagrein,<br />a variety that had almost fallen into oblivion in South Tyrol, grafted it onto weak-growing rootstocks and grew it on wire frames. The rebirth of this old, autochthonous red wine<br />variety represents for us a happy combination of tradition and innovation.<br /><br />In South Tyrol, only the 'Vigna' classification guarantees the origin of a site wine.<br /><br />Grape variety: Lagrein<br />Soil: Loam and sandy soils<br />Vinification: After delivery, the destemmed grapes enter the fermentation tank. After a short maceration, the mash is fermented for about 10 days.<br />Maturation: It matures for 15 months in small oak barrels, another 7 months after the assemblage in large oak barrels and at least 12 months in the bottle.<br />Food recommendation: Red meats, game, mild cheeses.<br />

We strive to preserve its full energy and wish to pair it with the most joyful moments in life. (Milena Vaira)<br />DESCRIPTION: Moscato is a beautifully aromatic variety that is deeply rooted in the winemaking heritage of Piemonte. We pick our grapes at full ripening, when the berries<br />start to be gold in color. Our dream is to bring all the perfumes, the freshness and the texture intact to the bottle.<br />VARIETY: 100% Moscato bianco.<br />VINEYARD AND TERROIR: Steep, old estate vineyards.<br />HARVEST AND WINEMAKING: Moscato harvest starts usually around the end of August. Picking decisions are individual to each site. Aldo always gives few more days of<br />ripening to this variety, which is a challenging decision in a crucial period yet rewarded by the beautiful fruits. Cold settling followed by a slow fermentation at low<br />temperature. Fermentation is stopped by drop of temperature, and the wine is kept refrigerated until bottling.<br />TASTING NOTES: Beautiful soft color with green reflections. Aromas of fruit with yellow flesh: apricot, peach, exotic fruits. Then elderflower, pear and a hint of sage.<br />Delicate and persistent bubbles, refreshing and cleansing the palate. The balance between sweetness and freshness continues in a long and creamy finish,<br />surprisingly savory.<br />

At Castellare, Chianti Classico is produced using only two indigenous grape varieties: Sangioveto, the prince of Tuscan vines, which makes up 90% of the blend, and the<br />remaining 10% of Canaiolo, another typical variety of the area. The true Chianti Classico, therefore, without the addition of international vines such as Cabernet or Merlot, in<br />order to maintain the authentic formula of the most famous of Italian wines while seeking maximum elegance.<br /><br />Tasting notes: the colour of this Chianti Classico is the ruby red of Sangioveto. The nose is fragrant, fresh with pleasant hints of red fruit, liquorice, currants and a light touch<br />of vanilla. The typical notes of Chianti Sangiovese dominate. On the palate it expresses a pleasant sweetness, is round, soft and savoury.
